A Joint Venture (JV) agreement has been executed and is being formalized by the creation of a Limited Liability Company, “ECOLIT SMART LIMITED” (Eco-Smart), between ECOLIT Construction Systems LLC and SMART Ghana Limited.

The company will use local tradesmen in the operation of the Manufacturing Facility, plus Execution of Construction Projects under Smart Ghana. Global marketing and sales, plus Manufacturing Facility management support for the Smart Ghana management and operational staff, will come from ECOLIT.

Eco-Smart is committed to certifying 60% of projects it gets involved in as “Green” on the World Bank sponsored platform EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies). We will achieve this by delivering homes with the ECOLIT system of building. We are also promoting the use of Solar energy to power our projects.

Ghana Government, supported by an IMF Extended Credit Facility approved in May 2023 for approximately USD $3 billion, and by the World Bank’s Development Policy Operations, are tackling debt challenges. In the first half of 2024, Ghana’s GDP surged by 5.9%. This shows the potential available and cements the adage of Ghana as the gateway to Africa.

Current target market focus is student hostels and affordable housing. Students’ accommodation demand grew exponentially with the Government Senior High School now “free”. It has led to an increase of over 300,000 new entrants to university per year. The increase of student numbers has in turn led to serious accommodation issues within University communities. According to the Ministry of Works and Housing in Ghana, there is a deficit of 1,800,000 affordable housing units in Ghana. This deficit is mirrored across several African countries.

With our strong relationships in the industry, we aim to disrupt the traditional construction market. To do this we are offering cost savings to members of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) and offering our service to them. We will form operating partnerships of their projects which will be founded on the ECOLIT LGSF building system.

Smart Ghana Limited, the local JV partner, has a policy of certifying at least 60% of what it builds annually as “Green”. This is made easy due to the recyclability of ECOLIT LGSF Steel and Foam Cement.

By adopting Building Information Management (BIM) technology, we aim to play a lead role in the development of the industry.

We are committed to paying a fair wage and abhor discrimination. We are involved in the support of training women into construction technicians such as plumbing, framing and electrical trades.

Our landbanks and strong pipeline of projects helps deepen our relationship with the banks.

The partnership between ECOLIT and Smart Ghana Limited is in the process of being formalized into a limited liability company with both companies holding equity stakes. The company will be run by the board of directors and responsibilities shared according to the dictates of the partnership agreement which has been executed.

We operate in a total quality management environment from the choice of our materials to regular inspections that ensure that our processes and procedures are adhered to always. We offer regular training for our staff and ensure that all levels of employees are up to date with industry trends.

Our large commercial projects are the backbone of our company and sales team, tasked with delivering at least one major commercial project annually. Residential projects which focus on affordable homes are a regular feature which ensure that we maintain a strong cash flow.

As demand increases, we plan to set up several factories across Africa, leveraging on the new African Continental Free Trade area (AFCTA) protocol of accelerating digitalization and harnessing the opportunities offered.
